Spink Conservation District The Spink Conservation District provides many environmental services to the producers of Spink County. We are also a dealer for Millborn Seeds.

The Spink Conservation District was established in 1941 and lies within and includes all land in Spink County. The James River flows through the county from north to south. Spink County offers an abundance of outdoor recreation, including excellent pheasant and whitetail deer hunting. The James River and numerous lakes provide for fishing, boating and other water related activities. The Spink Conservation District provides many services to the producers, such as tree belt planning, tree planting, fabric application, handplant sales, grass seeding, chemical application, and clipping. We can order many types of grass seeds, cover crops, alfalfa, flowers, and lawn seed.

What you’re seeing matters! Created by the South Dakota Association of Conservation Districts, this local resource concern survey offers landowners, producers, and community members an opportunity to share conservation concerns, successes, and observations from their area. Once that information is collected, it is sent to local conservation districts and will steer efforts and action items of the local working group. Please take a moment to share your observations. Your input helps guide conservation work in your area.

Earlier this week we helped host the Spink County Rangeland Day. The beginners learned range plant ID and the older kids learned how to do a rangeland assessment. It was a beautiful day to spend outside learning! A big thank you goes out to Jay and Tom from NRCS for sharing their expertise, the Johnson family for hosting, and the Spink County 4-H. We could not of done it without you all!!
