Today is First Responders Day in Michigan.

Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers show up at 3 a.m. and on holidays, often on the worst day of someone’s life.

To all of them, including the POAM members on shift right now: thank you. 🇺🇸

Michigan law enforcement extends beyond the patrol car. It includes the people answering emergency calls, working behind the desk, maintaining safety in our courts and serving the public on the street.

POAM was specifically invited to represent those professionals at today’s event featuring Vice President JD Vance Vice President JD Vance and Michigan gubernatorial candidate John James Congressman John James at CHI Aviation in Howell, with discussion centered on public safety and support for the people who protect our communities.

Making sure our members are at the table where real discussions happen will always be at the top of our list. That means bringing the needs and experiences of Michigan’s law enforcement professionals into conversations about the work they do every day.

Sheriff William Federspiel endorsed John James and Mike Rogers, too.

With a long career in law enforcement, he understands the challenges officers face and the importance of having leaders who support them. POAM appreciates his years of service and joins them in supporting John James and Mike Rogers.

Our members always come first.

POAM backs candidates, people and legislation with our members’ best interests in mind. We look at where people stand, what they do and how their decisions affect the people we represent.

Being present and building relationships is part of this work.

Michigan law enforcement deserves leaders who listen to officers, support victims and make public safety a priority.

That is why POAM supports Mike Bouchard for Congress in Michigan’s 10th District. Our message is direct: stand with the men and women who protect Michigan communities every day.

Showing up matters.

POAM Executive Board member and Business Agent Gregg Allgeier represented POAM at the October 21 grand opening of the Tunnel to Towers Detroit Veterans Village in Southfield, joining Tunnel to Towers Chairman and CEO Frank Siller for this important occasion.

Gregg is also a member of the Metro Detroit Pipes & Drums, who were present to play and help honor the opening.

The new Veterans Village represents a commitment to serving veterans who have sacrificed for our country by providing housing, supportive services and a community built around dignity and respect.

For more than 50 years, POAM has understood that service does not end when the shift is over. It means being present for law enforcement officers, first responders, veterans and their families—especially those who have sacrificed more and too often received less in return.

POAM remains committed to the principles and character on which our organization was founded: service, loyalty, respect and standing together when it matters most.

Accountability matters when public safety is on the line.

In a new campaign commercial, Mike Bouchard draws a contrast with Christina Hines over prosecution decisions and public-safety policy. POAM stands with leaders who support victims, listen to law enforcement and put safer communities first.
