Our department conducted a training exercise last night that focused on the search and rescue of an injured hunter in the woods.
This scenario challenged our members to utilize all available resources, work together as a team, and practice locating, assessing, and safely removing an injured individual in an outdoor environment . These types of scenarios help prepare us for real-world emergencies where access, communication, and locating the patient can be challenging.
📍 One valuable tool used during this training was the What3Words app. This app identifies specific locations using a unique combination of three words, helping emergency responders communicate precise locations when traditional addresses or GPS directions may not be enough. We strongly encourage anyone that hunts, hikes, rides side by side, snowmobiles etc. to download this app to have in case of emergencies.
Training like this allows us to identify challenges, improve our coordination, and strengthen our ability to respond when our community needs us most.
A big thank-you to all our members who participated and continue to dedicate their time to training and improving our department!
