OCTOBER 21 IS NATIONAL CHECK YOUR MEDS DAY!

When was the last time you took a good look inside your medicine cabinet?

Your medications play an important role in your health, but keeping them organized, up to date, and properly managed is just as important!

At the Stone County Health Department, we encourage everyone to take a few minutes to give their medications a checkup!

✅ Check expiration dates – Look through prescription and over-the-counter medications.

✅ Review your medications – Make a list of everything you take, including vitamins and supplements.

✅ Watch for interactions – Ask your pharmacist or healthcare provider if your medications are safe to take together.

✅ Clean out your medicine cabinet – Properly dispose of expired or unused medications at an approved medication take-back location.

✅ Store medications safely – Keep medications in their original containers and out of reach of children and pets.

✅ Ask questions – If you're unsure why you're taking a medication or how to take it, talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider.

DID YOU KNOW? Your pharmacist can help identify potential medication interactions, duplicate prescriptions, and other medication safety concerns.

A simple medication review today could help prevent a serious health problem tomorrow!

Never stop or change a prescribed medication without consulting your healthcare provider.

At the Stone County Health Department, we're here to help connect our neighbors with resources that support healthier, safer lives!

Your health matters. Your safety matters. YOU matter!

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. EDUCATION IS PREVENTION. HEALTH IS EVERYTHING!

Happy National Health Education Week!

Did you know that one of the most powerful tools for building a healthier community isn't found in a medicine cabinet?

At the Stone County Health Department, we believe that when people have access to trusted health information, helpful resources, and the support they need, they are empowered to make healthier choices for themselves and their families.

Health education is more than sharing information. It's about changing lives!
PREVENT illness through awareness and healthy habits.
EDUCATE individuals and families with reliable health information.
CONNECT our neighbors with resources and services.
EMPOWER people to take charge of their health and well-being.
BUILD a stronger, healthier Stone County, one person, one family, and one conversation at a time!

Whether we're helping a family access healthcare, teaching disease prevention, supporting mental wellness, or connecting someone with community resources, every conversation is an opportunity to make a difference.

Because a healthier tomorrow begins with what we learn TODAY!

This National Health Education Week, we celebrate health educators, public health professionals, community partners, and everyone who works to make health information accessible to all.

Together, we're not just sharing knowledge. We're changing lives!

STOP GERMS. PREVENT INFECTIONS. SAVE LIVES!
It's International Infection Prevention Week!

Did you know that preventing infections is one of the simplest and most powerful ways we can protect ourselves, our families, and our communities?
At the Stone County Health Department, we believe that prevention starts with everyday actions and even the smallest steps can make a BIG difference!

WASH YOUR HANDS! Clean hands are one of our best defenses against the spread of germs.
STAY UP TO DATE ON VACCINATIONS! Vaccines help protect you and those around you from serious illnesses.
COVER YOUR COUGH AND SNEEZES! Use a tissue or your elbow to help keep germs from spreading.
STAY HOME WHEN YOU'RE SICK! Give your body time to recover while protecting others.
CLEAN FREQUENTLY TOUCHED SURFACES! A little extra cleaning can go a long way.
PROTECT THOSE MOST VULNERABLE! Babies, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems may be at greater risk from infections.
Infection prevention isn't just a healthcare responsibility, it's EVERYONE'S responsibility!

Every time you wash your hands, practice healthy habits, or take steps to prevent the spread of illness, you're making a difference.
Small Actions. Big Impact. Healthier Communities.
Together, we can help stop infections before they start!

Prevent. Promote. Protect.
