I went to the Reedsport Candidate Forum last night and videoed the event on my phone. This is a first for me. It is in two parts because I wanted to check to make sure you could hear and see it- so I checked the video, it stopped the video and then I had to restart it. There are probably errors in the video that could be edited out. I am not a video editor and if I decide to make more videos I will certainly look into it. This is a raw video, but you will (hopefully) be able to hear the candidates and where they stand. I have not watched the video, since it took me until I posted this to just do the bare minimum. So, there it is. This is part 1 and the following will be part 2.

MINDPOWER GALLERY ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
PAT MAHAFFEY — PATHWAYS
Landscapes of Places We've Been
Opening Reception | Friday, October 16 • 4–7 PM
Every painting has a story. For Reedsport artist Pat Mahaffey, many of those stories begin with a walk, a hike, or a journey shared with her husband.
Together, they explore beautiful places, discovering landscapes that eventually find their way onto Pat's canvases. And their collaboration doesn't end when they return home.
Her husband is also the craftsman who builds the frames for most of her paintings. His woodworking skills provide the finishing touch to her artwork, making each framed painting a reflection of their shared adventures and his support of her creative journey.
It's a wonderful partnership, and one that gives special meaning to Pat's idea of calling her exhibition “Pathways.”
Pat has spent 34 years painting in oils, developing a distinctive Impressionist-influenced style through years of study, experimentation, and mentorship with accomplished artists Ning Hou in California and Ezra Katz in Baja Sur, Mexico.
Her technical skill is evident in her confident brushwork, thoughtful compositions, and especially her remarkable use of color.
Look closely at her landscapes and you'll find brilliant underlying colors—pinks, oranges, reds, and blues—bringing unexpected warmth and luminosity to forests, mountains, vineyards, and coastal scenes. Her paintings seem to glow from within!
But beyond the technique is something more personal: the experience of being in those places, seeing the light, and remembering the journey.
This Friday, we're putting the spotlight on one of Reedsport's own, and you are all invited. Over 35 landscape paintings will be on exhibit.
Come meet Pat, explore her beautiful oil landscapes, hear about the places that inspired them, and appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into presenting her artwork.
Bring a friend, bring a neighbor, and help us celebrate the remarkable creative talent living right here in our community.

Vintage Nights at the Gallery — Where Art Meets the Vine
VINTAGE NIGHTS AT THE GALLERY
This Week’s Story: Trella Vineyards
Friday, October 9, 2026 • 4–7 PM
This Friday, Vintage Nights takes us into Oregon’s Umpqua Valley as we welcome Trella Vineyards of Roseburg.
Established in 2011 at the base of the Callahan Mountains, Trella is a family-owned vineyard with a story rooted in the relationship between land, climate, farming and w**e.

And there is quite a story beneath these vines.
A Vineyard Shaped by Place
Trella’s vines are grafted onto disease-resistant rootstock and planted in a mix of Oakland-Nonpareil-Sutherlin soils and Abegg gravelly sandy loam. The vineyard receives approximately 41–43 inches of rainfall annually, with summer temperatures generally in the low 80s and approximately 2,200 growing degree-days.
These conditions are part of what gives the Umpqua Valley its distinctive growing environment—but Trella believes what the grower does with that environment matters just as much.

Working With the Land
Trella operates under the belief that choices made in the vineyard affect not only the w**es being produced today, but the future health of the land.
Their sustainable farming practices are designed to bring the vineyard into harmony with its surroundings rather than into competition with them.
Natural cover crops help minimize erosion. Drip irrigation reduces water waste. And habitats established for natural predators—including owls and bats—encourage a healthy ecosystem and greater balance throughout the vineyard.
It’s a fascinating look at how much happens before grapes ever reach the w**ery.

Come Discover the Story Friday
That connection between place, people and craftsmanship is exactly what Vintage Nights is about.
Join us Friday evening to discover Trella Vineyards, learn more about the Umpqua Valley, explore the work of Northwest artists throughout the gallery, and enjoy an evening of art and community in downtown Reedsport.
