A PLATE LIKE NO OTHER
Every plate honors a K9 who changed a life and left a lasting legacy.

A very special day for the heroes of the Commonwealth — our K9 heroes.

As a former Deputy Chief of Police, a proud friend and colleague of Sean Gannon, and someone who has lived through these tragedies alongside so many of our law enforcement family, it means a lot to see this brand-new K9 Heroes License Plate becoming a reality.

Soon, we will start seeing these plates all across Massachusetts. They feature our four-legged heroes, and every plate will carry “SG” in honor of our fallen hero, Sean Gannon.

Nero’s Law, Dakota’s Law, and the tragic losses of Sean Gannon, K9 Kitt, and K9 Frankie came from tremendous heartbreak. But those tragedies have helped turn something painful into something very special. The plate will help support PTSD research, treatment, and support for our K9 heroes who have served and sacrificed alongside our police officers.

A huge shout-out to my friend James LaMonte, who had the vision and fell in love with Dakota. His incredible determination helped make all of this possible. And soon, we will have a K9 PTSD center right here on Cape Cod dedicated to helping these incredible animals.

The Commonwealth will begin sending letters this week to those who registered for the plate, so keep an eye on your mailbox. When you receive your plate and put it on your vehicle, take a picture with your K9 and send it to [email protected] They want to bring everyone together and celebrate the dogs behind these plates.

Every plate will have a story, and behind every story is a dog that made someone’s life better.

I’m especially grateful to the Gannon Family and everyone who believed in this plate and helped make it happen. This is something we can all be very proud of.

God bless our K9 heroes and the officers who stand beside them.

Today, we pause to remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the incredible courage and sacrifice shown by the first responders who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics, canines and countless others who answered the call that day. We also remember those who later became sick or lost their lives as a result of their service at Ground Zero.

Twenty-five years later, their courage, sacrifice, and memory remain with us. 🚔🐶🇺🇸
