We’ve finally experienced a little bit of cool air and maybe you’ve thought about building a fire in your wood stove or fireplace. We would encourage you to have your chimney cleaned and inspected by a professional each year prior to burning in it.

Also remember these safety tips

1). Keep any items that can burn at least 3 feet away from the fireplace.
2). Do not burn paper or cardboard in your fireplace.
3). Put ashes in a metal container with a lid and place them safely outside.
4). Use a glass or metal screen around your fireplace
5). Use only dry firewood in your fireplace

The work starts long before the stew is ready!

Members of the Monroeton Fire Department Auxiliary have been busy preparing for the stew, and these photos show some of the folks helping make it happen. Thank you to everyone giving their time and lending a hand. There’s a lot of work behind every serving, and we appreciate all who help and support this effort.

Remember, stew pickup is Saturday morning between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. Please help our volunteers by picking yours up during those hours. After preparing the stew and filling all those tubs, they’ll be ready for some well-earned rest—and probably a good nap!

We look forward to seeing you, and thank you for your continued support of the Monroeton Volunteer Fire Department!

Also, we encourage individuals to drop off a new unwrapped toys or items from the burned children’s unit wish list when the pick up their stew. If you haven’t ordered stew and want to participate, feel free to drop off any donations Friday evening or Saturday morning during our stew.
