๐๐ป Planning to celebrate this summer? Make sure a sober ride is part of the plan.
From June 5โ21, University Police Department Northern Command officers will join law enforcement agencies across Nevada for the Joining Forces Impaired Driver Campaign. Through increased patrols and proactive enforcement, our goal is simple: keep our roads safe and prevent impaired driving before tragedy strikes.
A rideshare, taxi, or designated driver costs far less than a DUI and could save a life. If you're drinking or using impairing substances, don't get behind the wheel. Make a plan, use a sober driver, and help keep Nevada's roadways safe for everyone.
Drive sober. Arrive alive. ๐๐

The University Police Department Northern Command extends our deepest condolences to the Reno Police Department, Detective Thomas Lopeyโs family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Detective Lopey dedicated his life to serving others, first through military service to our country and later through his unwavering commitment to the Reno community. Throughout his nearly 13 years with the Reno Police Department, he was known as a respected leader, mentor, and public servant whose impact reached far beyond the badge.
His service, sacrifice, and legacy will not be forgotten.
We are keeping his family, friends, fellow officers, and all who knew him in our thoughts during this time.

After 13 years of dedicated service, Officer Berry is retiring from UPDNC. ๐
For so many at TMCC, Officer Berry was more than just an officer. He was a familiar face, a source of comfort, a steady presence, and someone who could always make people smile with his famous โDad Joke of the Day.โ Whether he was helping a student, supporting a coworker, or simply brightening someoneโs day with a pun, he made a lasting impact on this community in ways both big and small.
Over the years, Officer Berry helped create the kind of environment people remember: one built on kindness, trust, laughter, and genuine care for others. His dedication to serving the campus community never went unnoticed, nor did the heart he brought to the job every day.
Officer Berry, thank you for your years of service, your compassion, your humor, and the countless moments that made this department and campus better because you were part of it. TMCC will not be the same without you. We look forward to having you join us again as a reserve officer!!
In true Officer Berry fashion, weโll leave you with one final dad joke:
โWhy was Officer Berry taken away in handcuffs? He was guilty of cracking jokes!โ ๐๐
Wishing you a retirement filled with happiness, relaxation, dancing, golf, and of course, plenty of dad jokes. Congratulations, Officer Berry!

โ ๏ธ SCAM ALERT โ ๏ธ
UPDNC has received reports of scam callers spoofing the University Police Departmentโs phone number to appear legitimate. In one recent incident, the caller claimed to be from UNR PD and attempted to pressure the recipient into continuing the conversation privately and providing personal information.
Please remember:
๐น UPDNC will never ask you to purchase gift cards, send money, or provide sensitive personal/financial information over the phone.
๐น Scammers can โspoofโ phone numbers, meaning a call may appear to come from a trusted number even when it does not.
๐น If something feels off, hang up and contact the department directly using a verified number from our official website.
If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from law enforcement, report it to local authorities and notify UPDNC.
Stay alert, Nevada!

UPDNC is joining agencies across Nevada for a high-visibility campaign focused on one simple thing: buckling up saves lives.
Seat belts cut your risk of fatal injury in half, and theyโre your best defense against impaired, aggressive, and distracted drivers.
โ๏ธ Shoulder belt across your chest (not your neck)
โ๏ธ Lap belt across your hips (not your stomach)
โ Never behind your back or under your arm
This campaign isnโt about citations; itโs about prevention, safety, and getting everyone home.

Today we're wearing denim with a purpose ๐๐
Denim Day is a reminder that clothing is never consent and that we all play a role in building a safer, more supportive campus community.
We stand with survivors and encourage everyone to challenge harmful myths about sexual violence.
