🚲 Bike Bus is NEXT WEEK! 💚
Friday, May 29th 😎
We are so excited for our upcoming Mt. Rose Bike Bus and want to thank our community partners Safe Routes to School for supporting this event!
The Bike Bus will begin and end at Mt. Rose School while picking up neighborhood students along the route. This format allows students who may not live directly within our school zone to still participate by joining at the school starting point.
Our planned route is:
🚲 Begin at Mt. Rose School on Lander
➡ Proceed up Lander
➡ Right on St. Lawrence
➡ Right on Forest Street
➡ Right on Mt. Rose Street
➡ Right on Lander
➡ Return to Mt. Rose School
A few important reminders:
✔ Helmets are REQUIRED for all riders
✔ Free helmets are available for anyone in need
✔ Riders should wear bright clothing and bring water
✔ Please ride predictably, stay alert, and follow directions from safety patrol volunteers
We are also still looking for additional adult Safety Patrol volunteers! If you would like to help support the ride, please sign up on the calendar page and arrive at 7:00 AM on the day of the event for a brief orientation.
Thank you for helping create a fun, safe, and active community event for our students!

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the families who welcomed us into their homes and allowed us to be part of your family experiences. Your partnership and support mean so much to us!

Our school was honored and awarded the Blue Ribbon Award by State Superintendent Dr. Wakefield, WCSD Superintendent Joe Ernst, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Angela Orr, NV State Board of Education Member, Cameron George, Regional Representative for U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto, and Isabel Graf, representative for Governor Joe Lombardo.
The Blue Ribbon Award is a prestigious honor and is reserved for schools being recognized for Exemplary High Achievement Gap-Closing schools.The Nevada Blue Ribbon School Award highlights outstanding models of Nevada schools. Our school and TMCC are the only schools who received this award this year!
This recognition reflects the dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families who work together everyday to creates culture of high expectations, multilingual learning, and strong relationships. Our language immersion environment not only supports strong academic achievement but also prepares students to thrive in a globally connected world.

We hope you all had a restful and relaxing Spring Break! We’re looking forward to welcoming our students back to campus on Monday, April 6.
As a reminder, SBAC testing for students in grades 3–8 will begin on Tuesday and continue throughout the month. Please help your child prepare by ensuring they get plenty of rest the night before testing. If possible, we also encourage scheduling appointments outside of their testing dates.
We’re excited to begin the fourth quarter together and make it a meaningful and memorable time for all!

Mount Rose families are invited to join us for Muffins with Mountain Lions on Thursday, March 19 from 7:30–8:30 AM during morning drop-off at the front of the school.
This is a special family engagement event where parents and guardians are encouraged to stop by, share a muffin and coffee with their student, and enjoy a few meaningful moments together before the school day begins.
While you’re here, stay for a casual PTA meet-and-greet to hear school updates, learn about volunteer opportunities, and connect with other families. We are also excited to welcome WCSD Trustee Beth Smith, who will be joining us to meet families and hear from our community.

We kicked off Reading Week a little early on Friday with the incredible New York Times Best-Selling Author & Illustrator, Apryl Stott! 🎉📚 She spent time with our 4th and 5th graders sharing what it really takes to become an author and illustrator — from creativity and perseverance to how kindness, gratitude, and strong friendships help you along the way. Our students were inspired and ready to create!
And guess what… Reading Week officially starts TOMORROW! !!
🎭 Main Character Monday is here!
Dress up as your favorite book or story character and bring those pages to life!
🐾 We’re also excited to welcome Paws 4 Love Therapy Dogs to visit with our 2nd graders — because books and dogs make the perfect pair!
