Behind every number in these slides is a person finding their way back to safety. From answering 289 crisis calls to assisting with 15 TPO applications, our team has been on the front lines, ensuring that no one has to face domestic or sexual violence alone.

May was also an incredible special month for us as we received commendation from Senator Rosen and Senator Cortez-Masto at the Northern Nevada Legal Aid Voices for Justice Luncheon: A Brighter Tomorrow!

These "wins" aren't just statistics; they're lives saved. We are incredibly proud of this work, but we can’t do it without our community of supporters. Your donations directly fund the crisis line, the housing, and the legal help these survivors rely on.

This Men's Health Awareness month, it's important for us to talk about myths and facts surrounding men, domestic violence, and sexual violence - part 1.

πŸ’¬ Was there a myth or fact that surprised you?

When people hear about Safe Embrace, a common misconception is that our doors and services are only open to women and children. While supporting them is a massive part of what we do, the truth is simpler and much more inclusive:

Domestic violence does not discriminate, and neither do we. Abuse can happen to anyone, regardless of gender. Men experience domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault too, yet they often face unique barriers, stigma, and shame when seeking help.

We want to make it loud and clear: Safe Embrace is a safe space for men, too. Whether you need emergency shelter, housing assistance, legal advocacy, or emotional support, our services are fully open to male survivors. You are seen, you are believed, and you do not have to go through this alone.

June is Men's Health Awareness Month, a vital time to encourage open conversations about men's well-being. 1 in 7 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes. This number may even be underreported due to the stigma surrounding male victims of domestic violence.

Let's challenge harmful stereotypes, encourage men to seek support when needed, and work towards a world where healthy relationships and respect are universal. Awareness is the first step towards change.

Domestic violence and su***de are often tragically connected. Survivors of domestic violence face a significantly higher risk of suicidal thoughts and attempts. This is a painful reality that we need to talk about.

Resources for those experiencing suicidal thoughts or domestic violence:

πŸ“ž Su***de & Crisis Hotline: 988

πŸ“ž Safe Embrace Hotline: 775-322-3466

Please share this post to spread awareness about domestic violence and su***de.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we need to talk about how su***de affects kids and teens. Su*cide is the second leading cause of death among people ages 10-24 years old. If you are having su*cidal thoughts, do not hesitate to get help. Call 988 to speak to the Su*cide and Crisis Lifeline. You are not alone. πŸ’™
