Join Silver State Fair Housing Council in fighting housing discrimination by volunteering to be a housing discrimination tester. TESTING is part of our process to monitor the housing market to identify the nature or extent of discrimination. Much like a Secret Shopper, testers play the role of a home seeker, gathering information about availability, rental rates, and terms of residency. Testers are required to provide detailed, objective reports of their experiences. We train you, and work around your schedule. Testers receive a stipend for completed tests. HUD guidelines currently preclude persons convicted of a felony or crimes of fraud or perjury from participating in the volunteer program, and require screening for potential conflict of interest. Criminal background checks will be performed on all active volunteers.
