Last week, I was honored to present the Outstanding Team Member Award to Alma, my former paralegal, at the annual NNLA Voices for Justice luncheon. Alma is the longest-serving employee of the Senior Law Program in Northern Nevada and has helped thousands of older adults access justice over the last decade. Congratulations to Alma and all of the award recipients—truly a meaningful and impactful event.

Celebtrating Law Day with at the Reno Justice Court. My colleague on the bench presided over a ceremony for attorneys to reaffirm their commitment to the rule of law as part of a statewide celebration! Happy to be part of this special event — pictured here with fellow grads!

Recently, I had the privilege of meeting some exceptional 5th graders through our Kids Court program at Reno Justice Court, where they take ownership of the courtroom and participate in a real trial, assuming roles such as judge, lawyers, jurors, court reporters, witnesses, and bailiffs. The jurors engage in thoughtful deliberation to reach a verdict and also have the opportunity to pose questions to an inmate, gaining invaluable insights. Here are a few of the heartfelt cards they sent! Learn more here: https://www.washoecounty.gov/rjc/kidscourt/index.php
