June is National Reunification Month!
We recognize the strength and resilience of families working toward reunification and celebrate the moments when children can safely return home.
CASA volunteers play an important role in supporting these outcomes by advocating for the best interests of each child and helping ensure families have the resources they need to succeed.

Why become a CASA advocate?
Taking the first step can feel intimidating, but like Maggie, many of our advocates discover that the journey is not only meaningful, but life-changing.
You don’t need to be an expert, just someone who cares.
Children in foster care need consistent, compassionate adults who will show up and speak up for them.

Please join us in welcoming our newest Board Member, Phil Soto!
Phil and his family are recent arrivals from Southern California and moved to Reno in the fall of 2025. Mr. Soto is retired from the Los Angeles Superior Court, where he served for over 26 years as a judge. He has assisted in training, retention, and fundraising for L.A. CASA for many years.
He also has extensive experience in the administration of 501(c)(3) organizations, having served for five years as President of the Scholarship Foundation of the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA) of LA.
Mr. Soto is very pleased to have been chosen to serve the CASA board of Washoe County. He intends to use his experience, common sense, consistency, and persistence to support local CASAS in their endeavors to assist foster youth in the Reno area.

Through CASA's Child Abuse Prevention Preschool Outreach, we're working to build stronger, healthier families from the beginning.
This year, with the help of dedicated volunteers, we assembled Happy Family Packets for 51 preschools across Washoe County. A huge thank you goes to our community partner WCSO CERT Team for delivering them.
These packets are designed to provide child abuse prevention information to teachers and caregivers while also promoting positive and safe family connections.
Thank you to the WCF board members and volunteers who helped make this outreach possible. Together, we are building a safer future for children.
