Reno Police Arrest Driver Following Dangerous Motorcycle Flight:

On September 26, 2026, the Reno Police Mobile Engagement Team were riding in the area of North Virginia Street and the Reno Arch when they observed multiple motorcycles performing burnouts in the area.

Officers attempted to contact one of the motorcycles involved. The motorcycle fled the area at a high rate of speed and, during the incident, drove onto the sidewalk while attempting to get away from officers.

Officers remained in the area and, with assistance from RPD’s RAPTOR (Remote aerial Patrol and Tactical Observation Response) unit, were able to follow the motorcycle to the 800 block of Casazza Drive. Officers located the motorcycle being loaded into an enclosed trailer and detained two individuals. The motorcycle had been occupied by two people when it fled from officers.

Officers who initially attempted to stop the motorcycle arrived at the scene and identified one of the detained individuals as the driver. During their contact with the driver, officers detected an odor of alcohol and initiated a DUI investigation.

The driver, 23-year-old Seth Plikuhn was arrested and booked for:

Reckless Driving
DUI
Obstructing & Resisting – Flight
Expired Driver’s License
Registration Required

The Reno Police Department reminds the public that dangerous driving behaviors, including excessive speed and performing burnouts in public areas, can place motorists, pedestrians, and other community members at significant risk.

All charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

THREE ARRESTED IN STEAD COPPER WIRE THEFT INVESTIGATION

The Reno Police Department has arrested three people in connection with an ongoing investigation into copper wire thefts in the Stead area that have resulted in more than $100,000 in reported losses.

Investigators determined suspects were targeting the area during early morning hours and staging large amounts of copper wire after cutting it from the area.
On September 24, officers located a vehicle associated with the investigation and arrested 33-year-old Christopher Kaun. He was booked on an active Nevada Highway Patrol warrant and additional charges, including fictitious registration, no insurance, and possession of methamphetamine.

Shortly afterward, officers responded to a reported commercial burglary in progress near N. Virginia Street. With the assistance of ALPR technology, officers located a pickup leaving the area and arrested 36-year-old Joshua Anderson and 38-year-old Jenae Oboyle. Officers located a large amount of copper wire, copper tubing, and wire-cutting tools in the vehicle.

These thefts caused more than property damage. Cutting the wire also damaged fiber optic lines, resulting in cellular service outages from Chilcoot, California, to Quincy, California, and temporarily affecting radio communications for several local municipalities. More than 50 AT&T employees were needed to repair the damage and restore services.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional suspects and related thefts are being investigated.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Reno Police Department.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
