Grilling is a great way to enjoy time with family and friends. 🍔🌭🚒

To stay safe while cooking:
• Use grills outdoors only. Place them well away from siding, deck railings, and overhangs. Do not use grills under porches, balconies, or tree branches.
• Keep a 3-foot “safety zone” around the grill for kids and pets.
• Never leave a grill unattended.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT TOMORROW
Our first Red Flag Warning for the season is set for tomorrow, Saturday, June 6. Hot temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds are creating dangerous fire weather conditions across our region. Even a small spark can quickly become a fast-moving wildfire.

We urge everyone to be extra vigilant and avoid activities that can ignite a fire, including welding, grinding, using equipment that creates sparks, or parking vehicles on dry grass.

Protect your family, your neighbors, and our community. One careless moment can have devastating consequences, but one responsible decision can prevent a wildfire.

Together, we can help keep our community safe.

🇺🇸We were honored to lead and be part of the America 250 Ceremony in front of the Washoe County Courthouse this morning. The moment allowed us to share the national traditions of the fire service.🚒

Thank you to Judge Breslow and the court staff for allowing us to lead this celebration of our great Nation. And a special thank you to Frederic DeLongchamps, the architect of the Courthouse, played by historian and author David Woodruff. We are also grateful to the Depoali Middle School Choir, who led us in the national anthem and concluded with Home Means Nevada.

🇺🇸Join us on Wednesday, June 3 (tomorrow), as we partner with Nevada’s Second Judicial District Court to commemorate America’s 250th birthday during a community celebration at the Washoe County Courthouse.

The celebration will begin at 8 a.m. on the steps of the Washoe County Courthouse, located at 117 S. Virginia Street in Reno, and will feature the national anthem sung by the Depoali Middle School Choir, concluding with “Home Means Nevada”.

Local historian and author David Woodruff will portray renowned architect Frederic DeLongchamps, who designed the Washoe County Courthouse in 1910. DeLongchamps also designed several iconic buildings throughout the Reno-Sparks region, including the former Reno Main Post Office and the Riverside Hotel.

“We encourage our community to attend the court’s monthly celebration of our great nation,” said Barry L. Breslow, Presiding Judge for Department 8. “We are grateful for the many community partners helping lead these events throughout the year and look forward to welcoming Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue in June.”

TMFR firefighters will also display several pieces of firefighting apparatus during the event, including the agency’s ladder truck.

“We are honored to lead June’s celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday on the steps of the Washoe County Courthouse,” said Richard Edwards, Fire Chief of Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue. “We hope residents from across our community will join us for this special event and take the opportunity to meet our firefighters.”
