Did you know TMWA generates much of the electricity needed to operate our water system using clean, renewable hydropower?

Join us for a free tour of the historic Verdi Hydroelectric Power Plant and discover how water from the Truckee River is used to generate electricity. You'll get an up-close look at the turbines, learn how hydropower works, and see a facility that has been producing renewable energy for more than 100 years. The power generated at Verdi helps offset the energy costs associated with delivering water to our community.

Did you know that in a normal year TMWA diverts and uses only about four percent of the Truckee River’s total volume and, of that, about half is returned to the River through the wastewater treatment plant for other water users downstream.
