Congrats to the LIRR T.R.A.C.K.S. program as they were one of the seven transit agencies awarded a grant by Operation Lifesaver, Inc. The folks at the T.R.A.C.K.S. program do an amazing job teaching the public about and have for decades. They'll be using the grant to launch the Safety Post-It Note project with a contest for school-age children to create safety artwork for one of three topics: grade crossing, boarding the train or platform and station safety. The winning submission will be featured on custom Post-It notes.

Operation Lifesaver had a great 2025, from the relatively new ENS day, to the new PSAs to the amazing social media work and the efforts of thousands of volunteers going into their communities to help by teaching the public about railroad safety. Locally and nationally we are nothing without all the effort by wonderful folks.

Rail safety ed is important because it can save lives. Thank you to everyone who makes that happen.

A report made with Storyraise.

No matter how rushed and stressed out you are, waiting for people to exit the train just takes a moment. For safety's sake stay back form the edge of the platform at all times. is sometimes just a little patience

E bikes and scooters might be quick way to get around but you should never try to go around downed gates with any vehicle, including your feet! And if you're on the platform get off any wheeled vehicle other than a wheelchair and walk for everyone's safety. Help and make smarter decisions around the tracks. And wear a helmet when riding a bike or scooter for your brain's safety
