On July 31, a victim exited his rental home on Rosehill Rd. as his vehicle was being broken into. The offenders shot at the victim as they fled the scene. Detectives immediately accessed our Flock camera system and identified the stolen vehicle that was used in the crime. The vehicle was later recovered by Columbus Police after being abandoned. The offenders were identified after being recorded by private security cameras while using the stolen vehicle in other crimes.

On August 6, Reynoldsburg Police detectives executed a search warrant in Columbus with the assistance of the Gahanna Police Department and the Columbus Police Department. The search warrant was related to our investigation of the July 31 incident and other vehicle break-ins that have occurred throughout Central Ohio in recent weeks. The offenders in these incidents stole vehicles, cash, fi****ms, and credit cards. In two of these incidents, the offenders shot at victims who witnessed their crimes.

Nine fi****ms, including one that was stolen from a Reynoldsburg victim, were recovered during the ex*****on of the search warrant. Three offenders were arrested during the ex*****on of the search warrant and are believed to be responsible for hundreds of vehicle break-ins during recent months.
