♻️ Jefferson County residents: Your complete guide to drop-off recycling is here! 🌍
Because a majority of our residents do not have access to curbside recycling, the Jefferson County Solid Waste Authority (JCSWA) provides convenient residential drop-off sites throughout the county.
To keep our sites clean and running smoothly, please follow these guidelines before you head out:
✅ WHAT TO ACCEPTS & HOW TO PREPARE
• Plastics: Only #1 & #2 plastic bottles and jugs (milk, water, juice, laundry, shampoo). Throw away the lids!
• Paper & Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard (please flatten), dry newspapers, magazines, catalogs, phonebooks, and printer paper/junk mail.
• Cans: Aluminum and tin food/beverage cans (empty and rinse).
• Glass: Clear, brown, and green glass bottles and jars.
🚫 KEY RULES TO REMEMBER
• DON'T BAG RECYCLABLES: Put items into the compartments loose. Take your plastic bags back home with you to reuse or recycle at a grocery store.
• LIDS GO IN THE TRASH: Throw away all plastic and metal lids before dropping off containers.
• NOT ACCEPTED: Plastic bags, styrofoam, pizza boxes, shredded paper, light bulbs, window glass, or scrap metal.
• NO GROUND DUMPING: If a container is full, please call 814-328-5361 and bring your items back when there is room. Do not leave items on the ground or on top of bins.
•DO NOT leave electronics, such as Televisions, computers or radios at ANY of the recycling sites.
🤔 When in doubt, throw it out!
