2026 Fall Lawn Clean Up- Oct 26 - Nov 5

The city will not pick up dark colored or non-see-through bags.

Brush must be free of rope, wire, lumber, or other debris and neatly piled with cut end of limbs facing the street. Bags containing a mixture of yard waste and household rubbish, or garbage will not be picked up.

Residents are reminded that it is NOT permissible to rake leaves or yard waste into the curb line or street. Violators may be billed for clean-up and/or issued a citation.

Do not stack brush on leaf bags as each item is picked up separately.

Residential brush and bagged leaves may also be delivered to the Public Works Garage at 644 Washington St. 6am-4pm Monday through Thursday. Designated areas will be established for drop off points. The same rules above apply to the materials that can be dropped off.

The City of Rhinelander Water/Wastewater Department is reminding residents that what goes down the toilet does not simply disappear. Flushing inappropriate items can cause sewer backups, damage expensive treatment equipment, increase maintenance costs, and negatively impact the environment.

While it may be convenient to use the toilet as a trash can, many common household items do not break down in the wastewater system. These materials can clog pipes, jam pumps, and create costly repairs throughout the City's sanitary sewer system.

Residents should only flush bodily waste and toilet paper. Everything else belongs in the trash or should be disposed of through the proper recycling or hazardous waste program.

City of Rhinelander Residents!
📬 Absentee Ballots Have Been Mailed!

The November 3, 2026 General Election is approaching, and absentee ballots have been mailed to voters who requested them.
All returned ballots must be accompanied by the absentee ballot certification envelope. You must sign the envelope and your witness must complete the entire witness portion of the envelope.

If you receive an absentee ballot, you have several options for returning it:

✅ Mail it back to your municipal clerk using the provided self addressed, stamped absentee ballot certification envelope. Be sure to allow enough time for delivery so it is received by Election Day.

✅ Place it in the city's authorized absentee ballot drop box located on the Pelham St side of Rhinelander City Hall. This drop box is only for residents of the City of Rhinelander.

✅ Hand-deliver it directly to the clerk's office at 135 S Stevens St in Rhinelander. Open 8-4:30 M-F.

⚠️ Remember: Wisconsin law requires that voters return their own absentee ballot. If a voter has a disability that prevents them from returning the ballot, they may designate another person to return it on their behalf.

Don't wait until the last minute. Make a plan now to ensure your vote is counted!
