At their quarterly meeting on 10/29, the Lumberjack Council honored Bob Hermes. Bob retired from the Council in October of 2024 and was recognized for his decades as a Council Member. During his time, Hermes was President, Vice-President, Past-President and served as the chairperson of several committees. He showed great leadership and insight and will be missed. Pictured is Lumberjack's Executive Director Tracy Beckman, Lumberjack's President Bill Bialecki and Hermes.

We're teaching Northwoods lake groups about grants for their organizations. So much great information to help our landowners.

Today, I received this amazing email from one of our area lake property owners...Of course, we know all of this, but it's sure nice to have someone else recognize Derek for his amazingness!!! Derek is our Aquatic Invasive Species Coordinator for FLOW AIS.
Tracy! I just want to express my gratitude for Derek Thorn’s amazing assistance with our water quality test on Lake Oneonta! I feel he really went above and beyond the call of duty - not only with his guidance and expertise but his dedication to superb customer service! He graciously brought necessary equipment we didn’t have to do the testing. At the LAST MINUTE!!!(whew!) He was extremely patient when our trolling motor was initially uncooperative. Getting in and out of a boat is not only difficult for me these days but it’s also NOT pretty (if you know what I mean!) Derek was very understanding of my challenging situation! I applaud him profusely and wanted you to know! Great to work with diligent professionals like Derek! Please share my appreciation on behalf of our lake association! Thank you!
Margaret Gerhard!

This week we say goodbye to WYFP, a great conservation partnership that has impacted more than 262,000 acres of private forest land since 2015. While the partnership has dissolved, the great work is being continued by American Bird Conservancy, Ruffed Grouse Society, NRCS & many WDNR wildlife biologists and foresters. The backbone of the partnership has been Randee Smith, the first and only coordinator. We celebrated her yesterday with a little going away gathering. Randee will be missed...here's a glimpse at her time with WYFP/Lumberjack and her plans for the future. It's not goodbye, it's see you later...All the best to Randee & her family.
