This morning firefighters responded to a garbage truck on fire.
🔥🚒
The cause? Lithium batteries where carelessly thrown in household trash putting sanitation workers and firefighters in danger.

NEVER throw away lithium batteries in the garbage. They are very dangerous, start fires, and produce poisonous gas when in thermal run-away.

Lithium batteries can be discarded at designated drop off locations. According to batterynetwork.org the only one in Richfield is the Home Depot.

The column of smoke you are seeing from the valley is the Moroni Peak Prescribed Fire being conducted by the FishLake National Forest. From the valley it's location is deceptive and being reported as several different areas. Crews are on scene and operations are going according to plans.
