Uintah County Sheriff Steve Labrum Elected President of Utah Sheriffs Association
SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 29, 2026 — The Utah Sheriffs Association has elected Uintah County Sheriff Steve Labrum as its president for 2026–27. Labrum, who previously served as the association’s secretary, succeeds Kane County Sheriff Tracy Glover.
As president, Labrum will lead the association’s executive team and help guide its work on issues affecting sheriffs’ offices and the communities they serve. The association brings Utah’s sheriffs together to share resources, strengthen professional training, collaborate on public safety challenges, and advocate for policies informed by their experience serving communities across the state.
The 2026–27 leadership team is:

President: Sheriff Steve Labrum, Uintah County
First Vice President: Sheriff Nathan Curtis, Sevier County
Second Vice President: Sheriff Eric Houston, Garfield County
Secretary: Sheriff Ken Carpenter, Iron County
Immediate Past President: Sheriff Tracy Glover, Kane County
Past President: Sheriff Mike Smith, Utah County

“It's an honor to serve as president of the Utah Sheriffs Association alongside sheriffs who represent such a wide range of communities,” said Labrum. “Our counties face different challenges, but we’re stronger when we share what we’ve learned, find common ground and support one another in serving the people of Utah.”
Labrum steps into the presidency after serving alongside Glover during his term. As immediate past president, Glover will continue to provide continuity and perspective to the leadership team. Smith, who preceded Glover as president, will serve as past president.

Search and Rescue Dashboard

The Utah Search and Rescue Advisory board has dashboard to visualize the impact search and rescue has across the State of Utah. Since 1997 search and rescue teams have been able to seek reimbursement for the cost of search and rescue efforts. Reimbursement is broken down into three categories: searches, training, and equipment. The dashboard shows the types of activities and which county they were in.
The dashboard shows how much has been reimbursed statewide since 1997, and can be broken down to individual counties. These teams have provided over 1.3 million documented hours of service to our state. These volunteers are truly a great asset to each county.
