In the story of the Good Samaritan, a priest and a Levite pass by on the other side when they see the injured man. A Samaritan sees the man and has compassion. (Luke 10:31-33)

Compassion isn’t just a feeling. It moves us to cross the road to take action.

Today, displaced families need neighbors who refuse to look away.

BREAKING NEWS

For FY2027, the U.S. refugee admissions ceiling has been set at 17,500, with admissions primarily allocated to Afrikaners from South Africa, excluding anyone meeting the internationally recognized definition of a refugee.

As persecution and displacement continue around the world, World Relief is urging the administration to revise the determination and reopen pathways for refugees fleeing persecution.

“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

— James 2:25-26

We’ve heard the questions in our comments: Why does World Relief talk about immigration? Are we picking a political side?

Matt Soerens answers those questions in this video — our advocacy is not rooted in a party or political platform. It is rooted in our faith.

Scripture calls us to love our neighbors, welcome the stranger and seek justice for people who are vulnerable. So when policies affect immigrants, refugees and other people facing difficult circumstances, we speak up.

Watch to learn more about why we advocate.
