Good Morning! Residents in the area of Ben Williams Rd, within a mile of the fire station should expect low lying smoke for the next few days. Our Crews have been working along side forestry to hit hot spots from a brush fire Saturday night. There is no threat to the public, just fuel burning inside of the plow line. The fire is being monitored closely. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please use this as a reminder not to burn, while we are not in a burn ban it is very dry out. Thank you!

Today is the day!! Our crews have been up all night cooking and preparing. We will start selling plates at 11 AM for 10 dollars a piece. Don’t like barbecue? We will be selling half and half tickets as well. If you just want to come and hangout for a little while, we’ll enjoy the fellowship!

7/7 update for Chicken Farm Ln: The NC Forest Service will soon begin to scale the incident back. The fire is still marked at 50% containment. Forestry has been able to strengthen plow lines. Fires like these will continue to burn/smolder for quite some time until they get a good rain, and sometimes will continue even after that. There continues to be no threat to the public.

Containment doesn’t necessarily mean the fire is free burning/out of control. It means that they don’t feel completely comfortable with walking away from specific areas just yet. These are the areas forestry is focused on, and will remain dedicated to.
