WATER MOVEMENT TRAINING 🚒💦

Mutual aid companies were already en route to attend our Water Movement Training Thursday evening when we were dispatched to an MVA with entrapment.

While our members responded to the emergency, our mutual aid partners continued training alongside our Deputy Chief, ensuring the evening’s training could continue as planned.

We cannot thank these companies enough for taking the time to come out and train alongside us. Emergencies don’t happen on our schedule, but moments like these remind us how fortunate we are to have such dedicated mutual aid.

A special thank you to Alcamo Restaurant for providing pizza and a delicious dessert for the evening. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated by our members and everyone who joined us for training and who were on the emergency call.

Thank you to Two Idiots Buffing for taking pictures of our training and helping capture the evening.

🚨 MVA WITH ENTRAPMENT 🚨

On Thursday evening at approximately 5:44 PM, Engine 36 was dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Richlandtown Pike and California Road in Richland Township, Bucks County.

Chief 36 arrived on scene to find one vehicle overturned onto its side with two occupants trapped inside. The second vehicle had three occupants, including a young child.

Engine 36 arrived on scene and began stabilizing the vehicle and initiating extrication efforts. Crews from Richland Township Fire & Rescue (Rescue 56) and Quakertown Fire Company Number 1 (Engine 17) arrived and worked alongside our crews during the extended extrication. Together, crews stabilized the overturned vehicle and removed the roof to allow EMS access to the trapped occupants. Due to the severity of the situation, a medical helicopter was requested.

At 6:11 PM, extrication was complete, and both trapped occupants were successfully removed from the vehicle. EMS canceled the helicopter, and the patients were transported by ambulance to area hospitals.

Crews assisted with hazard mitigation and roadway cleanup while awaiting the arrival of Grants Towing to remove both vehicles. Fire Police from Haycock Fire Company #1 and Quakertown assisted our personnel with scene safety and traffic control throughout the incident. Crews remained on scene for approximately four hours before returning to station.

Richlandtown Fire Company would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to all mutual aid fire companies, fire police, Richland Township Police Department, EMS personnel, and towing crews who responded and worked alongside us during this incident. The teamwork and cooperation demonstrated during this incident are a reminder of how essential mutual aid is to protecting our community.

Our thoughts are with the individuals and families involved in this incident.

🚨 WATER MOVEMENT TRAINING 🚨

The Richlandtown Fire Company, along with mutual aid departments, will be conducting a Water Movement Training this Thursday, October 15th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM between Oldcastle on Pumping Station Road and Phoebe Richland on Union Street.

This is a planned training exercise. There is no emergency or cause for alarm.

Residents and neighbors in the area may see or hear:
🚒 Fire apparatus arriving and leaving
🚨 Emergency lights
🔥 Simulated emergency scenarios
👨‍🚒 Firefighters in full protective gear

Water movement training is essential, especially in rural areas where fire hydrants may not be available. In these situations, firefighters must transport water using tanker trucks and establish a continuous water supply to the scene of a fire.

This training allows our firefighters and mutual aid departments to practice working together, coordinating equipment, and moving large amounts of water efficiently to ensure we have the water needed to fight a fire. It also helps to ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond safely and effectively when our community needs us most.

👋 Want to see your local firefighters in action? Stop by Phoebe Richland, wave hello, and ask questions to learn more about what we do!

We appreciate the community’s patience, support, and understanding as we conduct this training.
