Big kudos to my friend, Donnie Dishaw, for rescuing this little one and finding someone to adopt her!
Yesterday someone dropped a kitten off in our parking lot. We arenāt really equipped to care for young animals but our guys jumped in and made it feel safe, fed and watered it until we could find a more suitable home. While the guys became somewhat attached, we were relieved when Commissioner Dishaw came through with a friend to give the kitten a second chance on life. Special thanks to Jenny for adopting our new little friend. Please donāt dump animals at the fire station.š¾.

Today the board of the Fulshear Simonton Fire - ESD 4 Department reviewed the bids for construction of the downtown Fulshear station and made the decision to select Bass Construction for the project.
Bass has an exemplary track record and Iām excited for this station to be under way. It will be a gem for downtown Fulshear and the surrounding area.

Fire Department Update:
This week, our board met and had some very productive conversations. We are continuing to grow at a fast pace, and it wonāt let up once the Hines development south of 1093 opens up. With the continued influx of residents, we have a need for more stations.
We are moving forward with our Jordan Ranch station and will open that up later this year. There are some major hurdles regarding utilities, but Iām confident we will work through it.
Our downtown temporary station will open up next week, once again providing close coverage to the downtown Fulshear and 359 corridor. We hope to break ground on the permanent station in the near term.
Our Bella Terra station is in the design phase, and while I havenāt seen drawings yet, I do hope the board will see something preliminary soon. This station will serve as a great mutual aid station and will house a ladder truck.
Speaking of ladder trucks⦠our current ladder caught fire and is in the shop. Chief Boeker asked for funding to purchase a new ladder, which will replace our crispy one. This will run a cool $2 million, which is the running rate at this point in time. Lead time for a truck is about 12 months.
All that said, we make more with less. We are building all these stations, hiring personnel, and buying trucks with a 9.5 cent tax rate. On a $500k house, thatās under $500 a year paid in taxes. Iām proud of our department and hope we can continue to maintain the momentum we have. The state has not made it easy, but we will continue to work with what we have and provide the best services in the region.
Thanks and have a great evening!

Congratulations to my good friend, Mark Flathouse, on his retirement from Fulshear Simonton Fire - ESD 4 this week. Heās an extraordinary individual and weāre going to miss him. Congratulations, Mark, and best wishes on your next phase of life!

Mark is the best of the best. I hate to lose such a valuable asset, but after 31 years in public service, he deserves to relax a bit!
Mark and I have worked together for over a decade and Iām proud to call him a friend. Heās one of the hardest working and most intelligent people Iāve ever known. What he brings to an organization is invaluable. He knows his stuff and he has those qualities that make him a great leader. I will miss working with him quite a bit.
Congratulations, Chief, on your retirement. Youāve earned it.
After a career built on service, leadership, and dedication to the community, Assistant Fire Chief Mark Flathouse is retiring. Please join us as we come together to celebrate the impact heās made.

Iād like to thank Sabrina Mullinson and the Cross Creek community for such a generous donation to the Fulshear Simonton Fire - ESD 4 Cross Creek Station today.
Today is Veterans Day and what better way to honor those who serve than to serve others. Thank yāall so very much!
