The 2026 Commonwealth of Virginia Information Technology Symposium (COVITS) is right around the corner. We’re gearing up for an amazing two days of learning and innovation!

VITA’s customer success team recently hosted its first Services Showcase. Agencies learned about the VITA‑managed services their teams can use to simplify work and solve business challenges across the Commonwealth.

Participants explored tools like workflow automation, identity verification, secure data sharing and Teams‑based calling before connecting directly with service teams during an interactive networking session.

The learning never stops here at VITA!

Our agency’s Sharing Our Knowledge sessions bring staff together to learn what different teams are working on, hear about key projects and stay current on major initiatives.

At our latest session, attendees got to hear from members of the enterprise and intelligent solutions (EIS) team about artificial intelligence (AI). The team walked us through how VITA is empowering agencies with secure, innovative AI tools and modern technical solutions. From new enterprise AI platforms to custom-built tools like the Ask Codey chatbot and the General Assembly Session Agent, our teams are driving responsible AI adoption across the Commonwealth.

And the big takeaway that tied it all together? AI isn’t one person’s job – it’s a community effort. VITA is building real-world solutions, launching pilots, strengthening governance and preparing agencies for the next era of digital transformation.

A huge thank you to the EIS team for an insightful presentation so everyone at VITA can continue to level up their knowledge. Let’s keep the momentum going! 🚀

VITA staff gather regularly to hear from internal teams about major projects and successes. At our recent Sharing Our Knowledge session, the application integration services (AIS) team brought the information and energy!

Attendees got an inside look at how AIS is helping modernize technology across the Commonwealth. Team members highlighted key services, including the VITA secure gateway, integration platform as a service, AppMon intelligent observability and managed file transfers. Each service is designed to streamline operations and strengthen the security and efficiency of Commonwealth systems.

The team also shared what’s ahead for Ask Codey, VITA’s AI chatbot. Version two will bring a more intuitive experience to help VITA website users quickly find public information about standards, contracts and much more.

The session concluded with a warm tribute to AIS director Jeffrey Scheich, celebrating his 15 years of dedicated service as he steps into retirement. We’re grateful for both his leadership and for everyone who joined us to learn about innovation and what’s ahead for VITA’s AIS team.
