Another day of innovation and learning at VITA!

Our latest Sharing Our Knowledge session featured an update on the VITA accounting and reporting system (VARS) project and the agency's new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, Workday.

VARS is about more than replacing PeopleSoft – it’s a full transformation of our business processes, financial data and technology. Workday will positively impact teams across VITA, including finance, human resources, procurement and IT, by bringing automation, improved workflows, reporting accuracy and a modernized experience for VITA employees.

Led by manager of financial systems and data management Drew Edmonds, the Sharing Our Knowledge session will improve how we work as One VITA. Big change is ahead, but the long-term impact will be even greater.

As cybersecurity rapidly expands into realms once considered science fiction, understanding the shifting dimensions of risk, resilience and innovation has never been more essential.

Look at these superstars shining brightly as they celebrate their recent accomplishment. They are just some of the two dozen professionals who graduated from the fourth cohort of VITA’s Leadership Development Program.

The in-depth, multi-part course equips current and aspiring leaders with essential skills. From strategic thinking and decision making to communications and team building, the LDP offers valuable insights and practical tools to help participants grow.

VITA's Commonwealth Security and Risk Management (CSRM) team recently hosted the in-person lunch and learn "Splunk for Rookies." The event included networking, lunch and an afternoon of interactive, hands-on training.

During the session, CSRM members and Splunk representatives demonstrated how the data platform strengthens the Commonwealth’s security posture. Participants gained practical experience conducting investigations in Splunk, along with tips, best practices and real-world examples from the CSRM and Splunk teams. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of how Splunk enhances threat visibility, supports proactive security operations and integrates agency and infrastructure intelligence into a unified threat landscape.

VITA recently won TWO awards for our agency's work last year on the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign - CVC. We were given the Collective Impact Award for establishing the highest participation rate in the 100-500 agency size category and Teamwork Award for a several events that supported nonprofits across Virginia. We're honored! And we can't wait to make an even greater impact through CVC this year.

VITA is searching for two innovative, responsive and effective professionals to join its Strategy and Communications Division.

The customer communications specialist is responsible for assisting with critical business-related content and messages to Commonwealth of Virginia agencies and localities. They should be a collaborative multi-tasker who can meet tight deadlines and translate complex technical language into customer-friendly messaging.

The internal communications specialist is responsible for managing VITA’s strong internal communications program, which is anchored by a robust intranet full of engaging and informative content. They should be a collaborative and curious storyteller, adept at working with others to interpret complex technical jargon, explain the why and motivate.
