🌍 What a wonderful visit! We were honored to welcome a special guest Dr.OG from the Rotary Club of Abuja Jabi Lakeside, Nigeria!
As a token of our friendship and the spirit of Rotary, the Richmond Rotary Club proudly presented her with our club flag.
Moments like these remind us why Rotary's reach is truly global — connecting people, building friendships, and making a difference across borders.
Welcome, and we hope to see you again! 💛

We are posting our weekly program- an interesting topic this week- genealogy! Daniel Sample, Manager for the Fort Bend County Library’s Geneology and Local History Department delivered insight on beginning your geology research steps- very helpful! Thank you Daniel Sample!
If you find these programs interesting each week, stop by the Masonic Lodge on Morton St in downtown Richmond at Noon on Tuesdays and check out our Rotary Club- we think you will like us! 👏🏼😊

Our club was visited by Operation Salvation’s co-founder Richard King, who served in the Air Force and fellow Army Veteran Adrian Ramos, educating how they are empowering disabled veterans through a woodworking program that promotes healing, skill development and community connection by addressing the need for non-clinical pathways to mental wellness and reintegration for vets.
This program was inspired by the loss of friends and service members to su***de. We discussed pathways/ connections Operation Salvation could explore in the rotary family in the Houston area-

This week’s visit/ program from Dr. Eilean Mackenzie of Texana Mental Health Crisis Center for adults, which she began in 2014, was educational, grounding and inspiring simultaneously! Dr Mackenzie’s delivery of the subject matter confirms she is the right person for her field of mental health, and especially su***de.
She challenges all Rotary Club members to speak up and ask about su***de- if you know something is ‘going on’ or different with someone, ask them if they are alright, and stop and listen to the answer! 🫶🏻
If someone seems to have changed or is struggling, converse with them and attempt to help- that is our responsibility…actually all humankind’s responsibility- connection with other humans.
Thank you Dr. Eilean Mackenzie for the reminder and all you shared! We saw you were Texana’s first “Difference Maker”- most appropriate- Thanks for hopefully making a difference in our club on the subject of su***de 👏☮️🫶🏻

The Richmond Rotary Club had the pleasure of hearing from students about the annual bazaar hosted by Shady Oak Primary School. It’s incredible to see such young minds already thinking like entrepreneurs—each student runs their own small business, complete with investors, a product, and even a profit & loss plan before they get the chance to sell.
Be sure to come out and support these future business leaders at the bazaar on May 3rd from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, held in the backyard at Blockhouse Coffee. You won’t want to miss it!
