Virginia Operation Lifesaver finished out at the Richmond Railroad Museum Saturday. Over 325 visitors stopped by our table and learned about rail safety! Amtrak and Virginia Passenger Rail Authority provided rail safety info too.

Thank you Richmond Police Department, Richmond Fire Department, George W. Carver Elementary and Uptown 4 Life for spreading the rail safety message!! A special thank you to Officer Adams for getting everyone involved!

We were able to share Operation Lifesaver material with students and parents.

See tracks, think train! RPD partnered with The George W. Carver School Virginia Operation Lifesaver and Virginia State Corporation Commission for Railroad Safety Week. Officers spoke to students and parents to emphasize the importance of being cautious near railroad tracks. Here are a few tips on railroad safety to keep in mind:

1. Cross at designated crossing and without distraction
2. Always wait when the lights are flashing
3. Don’t walk along or by the tracks
