During National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month, we encourage you to pay attention to what your body may be trying to tell you.
Migraines and headaches can be connected to stress, lack of sleep, dehydration, hormone changes, certain foods, eye strain and even weather changes. In children, migraines may sometimes show up differently through stomach pain, irritability, fatigue or sensitivity to light and noise.
Recognizing patterns, triggers and symptoms is an important step toward better management, prevention and overall wellness.
Don’t ignore persistent headaches or migraines! Talk to your doctor and advocate for your health.

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, resilience, culture and the enduring strength of Black communities.
Today, we honor June 19, 1865 - the day the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation reached enslaved African Americans in Texas, more than two years after it was issued. We also reflect on the generations who fought for freedom, justice and dignity, while recognizing the continued importance of education, advocacy and equity in our nation.
May we continue to preserve the stories, celebrate the culture and uplift the legacy of those who came before us.
Happy Juneteenth!

June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day - a time to raise awareness about the mistreatment, neglect and exploitation that many older adults experience every day.
As defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, elder abuse “is an intentional act or failure to act that causes or creates a risk of harm to an older adult. An older adult is someone age 60 or older. The abuse often occurs at the hands of a caregiver or a person the elder trusts.”
Elder abuse can include physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse, as well as neglect, abandonment and self-neglect. According to research, 1 in 10 older adults living in the community in the United States experiences some form of abuse.
Because many cases happen at the hands of caregivers or trusted individuals, it’s even more important for families, faith communities and organizations to remain informed, attentive
and proactive.
Our elders deserve dignity, protection, respect and care! Let do our part to create safer, healthier and more supportive communities for older adults everywhere.
