All students deserve the opportunity to soar. Students’ futures should be determined by their effort, not by their background, ability or zip code.

Through a school-based coordinator, Communites In Schools connects students and their families to critical community resources tailored to local needs.

Who was in your corner when you were growing up? A teacher, a coach, a neighbor or someone who simply made time to listen? Tell us about the difference they made in your life in the comments.

Think back to someone who made you feel like you belonged at school. Maybe they listened. Maybe they noticed when you were having a hard time. That kind of connection matters. Over the next several weeks, we're going to celebrate what it means to be in a student's corner. Follow along as we share the everyday support behind CIS of Wayne County

What difference can one caring adult make in a student’s life? The impact can last long after graduation.

Updated research on Communities In Schools found better attendance, higher graduation rates, and greater college enrollment. Researchers also project that three years of CIS support could increase a student’s lifetime earnings by approximately $48,800.

It starts with someone who notices. Someone who listens. Someone who helps when life gets in the way of learning. That’s what your support makes possible here in Wayne County. Thank you for being part of our students’ futures.

HALLOWEEN COSTUME DONATIONS NEEDED!!
Do you have any Halloween costumes your kids have outgrown? We could use them!

Halloween is coming up fast, and we need children’s costumes in all sizes, XS–XL. We just ask that they are school-friendly, with no gore or weapons. Costumes will go to students so they can participate in School Halloween parades and community trick-or-treat events without their families having to worry about another expense.

If you have a costume to share, please reach out to Christin at [email protected] or call our office at 765-983-2238. Donations can be dropped off at our office Monday - Friday 8am -4pm at 800 Mendleson Drive in Richmond, IN

What happens when the school day doesn’t go as planned?

For Chloé Conley, CIS Site Coordinator at Rose Hamilton Elementary, adjusting to the unexpected is part of the job. A student needs help getting ready, another needs a jacket, a teacher needs to check in, and a student needs a quiet break. Priorities can shift in a moment.

Our Marketing Coordinator, Christin Hampton, spent a morning with Chloé and saw how she navigates a day full of interruptions with care and flexibility. Even when the morning gets chaotic, Chloé makes time to help students feel seen and supported.

Read Chloé’s story on our website for a glimpse into the many needs, relationships, and unexpected moments that shape her day. Link in comments!

Over 300 pairs of shoes have been distributed this year, and we aren’t done yet!

Thank you to Reid Health for entrusting Communities In Schools of Wayne County with the Shoes for Kids program for Wayne County. We are honored to carry this work forward and help local children have the shoes they need to learn, play, and take on the day with confidence.

So far this year, we have distributed more than 300 pairs of shoes to organizations across Wayne County, working together to reach children throughout our community. We’re excited to keep making a difference, one pair at a time!

Thank you to the Ronald McDaniel Foundation for helping us show up for students, families, and our community!

Your generous contribution to Communities In Schools of Wayne County helps us continue our work within our schools, connecting students with essential resources, caring relationships, and the support they need to succeed.

We are also deeply grateful for your additional funding to address immediate and emerging needs, including flood relief. This support allowed us to extend a helping hand to Cambridge City when our neighbors needed it most.

Thank you for believing in our mission and trusting us to respond where support is needed. Your generosity helps us make a meaningful difference in our schools and throughout our community!
