When not running calls, your Richmond Firefighters are committed to training and staying ready for whatever may come our way. Today, members of the B-Shift were working hard conducting an SCBA consumption course.

An SCBA consumption course requires firefighters to perform strenuous tasks while wearing full gear and breathing compressed air from our air packs. The primary purpose is to help firefighters understand their individual air consumption rates under stress, establish personal safety limits, and build endurance. Firefighters work their way through each station until they run out of air.
