Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden 60 Acres of gardens are waiting for you. Visit daily! Hours:
Daily admission – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Thanksgiving & Dec. 24-25

One of the most-visited attractions in the Richmond, Va., area, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden offers year-round beauty on a historic property with more than 50 acres of spectacular gardens, dining and shopping. A classical domed Conservatory is the only one of its kind in the mid-Atlantic. The Children’s Garden offers a wheel-chair accessible Tree House (fun for kids and adults!), an Adventure Pathway, Sand and Water Play areas and an International Village. More than a dozen themed gardens include a Healing Garden, Fountain Garden, Asian Valley and Victorian Garden. Dining options include the Garden Café and Tea House; the Garden Shop offers an extensive array of items. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is a non-profit organization and proceeds support the Garden's educational mission. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden connects people to plants by inspiring communities to explore and conserve nature.

Author Carolyn Schuyler is a University of Virginia Visiting Scholar, a Morven Sustainability Lab Community Scholar, a psychotherapist and the founder of Wildrock and Nature Connection Lab, two nonprofit organizations seeking to promote nature connection for health and well-being.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! 🪶🌽

When we set out to write a land acknowledgement, we asked Brad Brown of the Pamunkey Indian Tribe for guidance. His advice was to do something that actually supports Virginia’s Tribes.

So last September, we co-hosted the Kennanee Native Arts Festival with the Virginia Native Arts Alliance. Kennanee is the Algonquin word for friendship, and Tribes spent the day introducing visitors to modern Indigenous people through art, music, and a shinny exhibition game.

Thank you to everyone who shared their culture with us. We’re grateful for the chance to get to know each other better.

This Saturday, a rare chance to explore the Lewis Ginter Nature Reserve! 🌼🌳

This 80-acre property in Hanover County is normally closed to the public. On October 10, from 10am to 3pm, the gates open as part of the Hanover Fields & Farms Tour. One day only, and it’s free. 🚜 Hanover Fields and Farms Tour

The reserve holds 2,000+ varieties of azaleas and 300 rhododendrons, and it’s protected by a conservation easement. 🌸

You can also visit 10 other Hanover farms, with Highland cows, alpacas, cut flowers, and berry picking.
