Hello, Friends! We sent invitations via email or mail for our annual meeting and volunteer recognition luncheon on Thursday, June 11, depending on the information we had on file for our current members and recent members whose memberships are due for renewal. Please reach out this weekend if you are planning to attend as we need to finalize our count for the caterer (Corner Cafe at the Leland) on Monday. If your membership is due, we'll have payment envelopes available at the luncheon, or you can pay in advance online at https://mrlinfo.org/friends/. Thanks!

Here's the latest on Morrisson-Reeves Library's plans to reopen.

On Friday, March 13, a local power outage caused a malfunction in Morrisson-Reeves Library’s back elevator, resulting in significant smoke in the building. All staff and patrons were safely evacuated. The library was closed for the rest of the day to allow for proper ventilation. Fortunately, there was no fire and no structural damage.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Richmond Fire Department, Centerville Fire/Rescue, and Richmond Police Department. Their quick arrival and swift action in identifying the issue and shutting down power to the elevator ensured the safety of our building and patrons.

The library has been thoroughly ventilated so Morrisson-Reeves Library will reopen for normal operating hours on Saturday. Our back elevator will remain out of service until repairs can be completed.
