Hey Richmond!

It's that time of year for basketball! 🏀

Our players will have fun playing basketball while learning the fundamentals of the game. PRCF strives to provide a rich environment that fosters development, discipline, friendship and sportsmanship. The youth league is for novice to experienced players who wish to learn while playing in a recreational atmosphere.

Registration is open for the 2026-2027 season online (link in our LinkTree) and in person at your local community center.

Heads up !

Our JRPS staff will be engaging in a maintenance and improvement project this week that will close down the Reedy Creek Parking Lot October 14 - October 17. Please note that unloading area located on the western side of the parking lot will be available.

Parking is available at Forest Hill Park located on 42nd Street.

We expect to have everything reopened next week.

🌳 Let’s talk trees, Church Hill!
Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities invites neighbors to join us for a Community Meeting at Chimborazo Playground to learn about upcoming tree plantings planned for Chimborazo Playground and Libby Hill Park.

Come meet Parks & Rec staff, hear more about the planting plans, and learn about the City’s collaboration with Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Church Hill Association to help improve the urban canopy in Richmond. Plans can be seen through our LinkTree.

This is a low key event that anyone can participate in. Please sign up in advance so we have tools for everyone but if you find yourself available last minute please join us anyway and don’t worry about it. You can come and go as your availability allows, just 30 minutes will be helpful.

This is a kid friendly event but NO unsupervised kids allowed. We will be driving vehicles through the park. Let’s keep it a fun, easy event for everyone!

A little about the new position:
⭐ The position will report to the Recreation Center Supervisor who oversees daily operations of the community center. Duties include supporting customer service operations; planning, coordinating, and implementing recreational, social, and special event programs; maintaining program and facility reports; and ensuring the effective delivery of services and activities to center participants and the community. The position will work collaboratively with staff, community partners, and other stakeholders to support sufficient facility operations and the successful implementation of programs and services.

🌳Our new Maintenance Technician will be assigned to the Trails division where work may include, but not limited to assessing and identifying repair needs and recommending action; providing maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and parts; operating assigned light and heavy equipment, machinery, or shop equipment; maintaining records and inventory; recommending equipment and supply purchases; maintaining cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment; or ensuring safe use of hazardous materials and chemicals.
