VGEA family,
Let's help fight isolation this season!
The Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services is reminding us that little things, like a quick call to a friend or relative in long-term care, can make a huge difference.
To the state workers doing this important work: thank you for bringing your compassion to the job every day. You’re making Virginia stronger, and we see you!

Shoutout to the amazing public workers who brave the chill to keep Virginia safe and moving! Thanks to our friends at the Virginia Department of Emergency Management for the frosty reminder, and for all you do!
❄Tiny Window, Giant Risk❄
If your view looks like you're driving a snow globe, it’s time for a scrape party!
Driving with only a small patch of your windshield cleared reduces your vision, delays reaction time, and puts you and others at risk. Always take a few extra minutes to fully clear ice and frost from your windshield, mirrors, and lights before hitting the road. If visibility is poor, postpone travel. Your safety—and everyone else’s—depends on it.
(*Here's an extra FREE Pro-tip...a credit/debit card can be used as an emergency frost scraper!🤔😂😎👍)
More visibility, less guesswork—drive with confidence! ❄️🚗🎉

On July 4th, we reflect not only on freedom, but on the strength that comes when individual voices join in common purpose.
At the VGEA, we're proud of our independence as a Virginia-based organization run by and for the Commonwealth’s public employees and retirees. We're real people working together to make a meaningful difference.
Every win we’ve achieved starts with our members who choose to unite, and when we stand together, we’re unstoppable.
Wishing you all a restful and meaningful Independence Day weekend!

The General Assembly may be done, but key decisions about Commonwealth employee paychecks are still unfolding. Will state employees get the 1.5% bonus? What bills did and didn’t survive the session? How do these changes affect the future?
VGEA members receive the full, insider report delivered to their email. Why? Because their dues—$144/yr. for active employees and $50/yr. for retirees—powers the advocacy that makes these wins possible, and they deserve to stay in the know.

VGEA members and leaders recently came together at the General Assembly for Legislative Day 2025 to advocate for state employee pay raises, fair policies, and hiring reform.
Real change happens when we show up, speak up, and meet with legislators face-to-face. This is where decisions about your pay, benefits, and workplace policies are made.
Every conversation with a lawmaker moves us one step closer to better pay, benefits, and fair policies for Virginia’s state employees and retirees.
To everyone who attended Legislative Day, thank you for your time, passion, and advocacy. We couldn’t do this without you!
