The Maymont Mansion is represented TWICE in The Valentine newest exhibition, Building a City: Richmond’s Landmarks. 📍

These student-created models from Meadowbrook High School (1 & 3) and Cosby High School (2 & 4), are part of 19 works exploring Richmond’s rich architectural history and the city's built environment. You can see them on view now at the Valentine. 👀

After viewing the exhibit, come visit the real Mansion — open for tours Thursday through Sunday, 11am to 5pm. 🏡

Belated birthday wishes are in order for 3 of our animals at Maymont: Monty, Barb and Sandy!!

🖤 About Sandy and Barb:
Our North American porcupines turned 1 year old in May! And arrived here 1 year ago! Since they were habituated to humans at birth, they could not survive in the wild, so we welcomed them home to Maymont and built them a brand new habitat! It’s been a joy to have these spunky girls join the Maymont family and help us educate on how porcupines were once a common species in Virginia!

🐱 About Monty:
Our bobcat turned 18 years old in May! Found as a kitten in the Blue Ridge Mountains and mistakenly identified as a housecat, a vet got him to the Wildlife Center of Virginia who upon rehabilitation efforts realized he was already too used to humans to safely be released back into the wild, so they brought him to Maymont. We’re honored Monty has helped us educate on his common Virginia native species for 18 years! He can be a grumpy cat, but we love his cattitude.
