When Red Oak Victory (and all Victory ships for that matter), was constructed there was no way to move horizontally through the ship from one cargo hold to the next. One had to climb out of one hold, move on the main deck to the next, and then climb down into the new hold. Over the years, watertight doors have been added to allow convenient movement horizontally through the ship. This is necessary because we have re-purposed the cargo holds as shops, storage areas, and other operational spaces. The two latest doors we've added allow movement from the engine room to Tween No. 3 which is our machine shop and from that space to Tween No. 2 which is the electrical shop. Here's a couple pictures of these new doors while in progress and completed and painted. This is the kind of work your donations and ticket purchases help us to complete. Thank you!
