The Eastern Phoebe is a small bird, about 7 inches long, but its distinctive “fee-bee” call often gives it away near water. Look for it perched on low branches as it searches for insects.

Join the The Rainbow Frequency for a 90-minute session designed to offer a peaceful retreat within the cemetery's restorative grounds. The Ginkgo tree is one of the most fascinating trees found at Hollywood Cemetery. They are known to have inhabited the Earth for over 150 million years, and turn bright yellow in the fall.

In 1994, a tulip poplar at Hollywood Cemetery was struck by lightning, leaving behind a deep, visible scar.

Although the scar was significant, much of the damage occurred inside the tree, where the lightning eventually caused the trunk to hollow.

In the years since the lightning strike, the tulip poplar has received plenty of TLC thanks to the help of Van Yahres Tree Company.

Using a 3D tree scanner called Abdian, which provides detailed insight into hollowed trees, they've confirmed that the tree remains remarkably healthy and stable.

Nearly 32 years later, the next photo shows Jake Van Yahres, co-owner of Van Yahres Tree Company, standing beside the same tree in 2026.
