Think it is too early to snow in Virginia? On this Flashback Friday, we are going back to 10/10/1979 when Virginians awoke to find snow had fallen overnight. Flakes fell on limbs still full of leaves, bending & toppling trees & snapping branches. Many schools closed for the day.

The second weekend of HRBT repaving is here, and crews are back to finish the westbound tunnel.

The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel will fully close westbound toward Hampton from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, for the second planned weekend of westbound paving. Eastbound will remain open.

Later this month: eastbound HRBT toward Norfolk, with closures scheduled Oct. 16-19 and Oct. 30-Nov. 2 (if needed).
