What does the cost of knowledge look like? For , we’re highlighting how UR Libraries have helped reduce barriers to scholarly research through our open access publishing agreements.

Since 2023, our agreements have helped researchers at the University of Richmond publish 161 open access articles, and saved authors $542,000 in fees!

Open Access helps make research available to a broader audience, advancing the sharing of knowledge beyond paywalls.

Boatwright Memorial Library and the Weinstein Learning Center are giving away a pair of noise-canceling JBL headphones to one lucky winner! To enter, students must grab a passport card at the Opening Day Campus Celebration, collect three stamps in a row by visiting activity stations, and return their completed card to the Library’s 1st floor circulation desk.

Our Campus Celebration is this Sunday from 11am - 2pm and is open to everyone! Bring your friends and family, grab a treat from one of the food trucks, and enjoy all the activities happening throughout the building!

Students and their families, faculty, and staff are invited to celebrate the reopening of Boatwright Memorial Library and the grand opening of the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Learning Center! Join us on Boatwright’s front lawn for free food trucks, games, and music, and then step inside to explore the newly renovated building, with activities and giveaways happening on the ground, first, and second floors.

Discover new resources and services through tours, 3D printing and virtual reality demonstrations, and activities hosted by Weinstein Learning Center, Library, and Innovation Studio staff. Try your hand at printmaking in the Book Arts Studio, visit the Rare Book Room, and explore the Lora Robins Gallery on the ground floor.

Be sure to pick up a passport when you enter and collect stamps at activity stations throughout the building for a chance to win a raffle prize. Come celebrate, explore, and discover all that your newly renovated Library and Learning Center have to offer!

Head of Parsons Music Library, Linda Fairtile, was featured in UR Now for her decades of dedication to her biggest accomplishment yet: a two-volume, 1,100-page critical edition of Puccini's Edgar.

Boatwright Library will be closed from July 13–31. The Ground and Basement Floors will resume normal summer operating hours on Monday, Aug. 3. Item retrieval and pickup services will be available during the closure. Please email [email protected] with any questions or for assistance.

This closure will help facilitate one of the final phases of the library’s renovation project and ensure the safety of our patrons while furniture deliveries take place and staff move back into the building.
