George Memorial Library, Richmond - FBCL George Memorial Library in Richmond is the central library of the Fort Bend County Libraries system.

Located in Richmond, George Memorial Library is the central library of Fort Bend County Libraries, a public library system in Fort Bend County, Texas. The building opened in 1986, when the main library moved from its original location by Polly Ryon hospital in Richmond. Funded by the George Foundation, the impressive building has become renowned throughout the county and beyond, both for its architecture and as the very-visible, primary symbol for the library system. The mission of Fort Bend County Libraries is to bring people, information and ideas together to enrich lives, expand minds, and strengthen our community. Teens (grades 9-12) are invited to a special workshop series, "Coding & AI," on Saturday, October 10 and 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, in the Computer Lab at George Memorial Library in Richmond.

Join Project NexTech's Workshop Series for an introduction to programming in a variety of languages, including Java and Python, as well as web development and artificial intelligence. Each session features hands-on projects designed to build technical knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Gain confidence with this type of technology in a fun, supportive environment. No prior coding experience is required. Each session features different activities and projects, so students are encouraged to attend every session.

Experience the energy, rhythm, and community spirit of Anatolian culture through movement! Join us on Saturday, October 24, from 10:30 - 11:30 am, in the Bohachevsky Gallery (lower level) at George Memorial Library in Richmond. Enjoy a lively introduction to Halay, a traditional line dance performed at celebrations and festivals across Turkey and the Anatolian region.

Participants will learn basic rhythmic footwork, synchronized steps, and the cultural significance of this unifying dance. No dance experience or partner is required — just wear comfortable shoes and be ready to move! Registration recommended.

Senior Social Club is a relaxed, welcoming space for seniors to connect, unwind, and enjoy time together. Participants can drop in to play card games or chess, work on puzzles, and explore a variety of other casual activities designed to encourage conversation and community. Whether you stay for one activity or try several, this program offers a comfortable environment to socialize at your own pace.

We will meet on Friday, October 9 & 23, from 10:00 am to 12 noon, in Room 2A at George Memorial Library in Richmond.

Board games are a great way to unwind, meet new friends, and challenge your mind.

The next meeting of our "Roll With It Board-Game Club" will take place on Thursday, October 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, in Room 2C at George Memorial Library in Richmond.

We play a variety of games from competitive to cooperative, strategic to classics, and everything in between! All skill levels are welcome (age 14+).

This month’s featured game is Lanterns: The Harvest Festival.

Celebrate Halloween with creativity and fun at the library’s Boo Bash on Saturday, October 31, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, in the Bohachevsky Gallery (lower level) at George Memorial Library in Richmond.

Kids and families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of Halloween-themed crafts, games, activities, and treats. Come and get ready for a frightfully fun time at the library!

Ages 14 and up are invited to get crafty with spooky book nooks in a tin and vintage Halloween collage cards, then create your own Halloween snack mix at our DIY snack-mix bar. Test your detective skills with a murder-mystery challenge and don’t forget to snap a festive photo at our Halloween selfie station.
