On Memorial Day, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Cpl. Benjamin S. Kopp, a member of the 75th Army Ranger Regiment, saved six of his comrades when his unit came under attack in Afghanistan. He was mortally wounded and saved four more lives in the U.S. through his selfless gift of organ donation. The Fallen Soldier statue stands at the National Donor Memorial to honor Koop and all those military members who made organ, eye, and tissue donation their last courageous act of service. The Memorial is a peaceful place for all who wish to honor the gift of life.💙💚

More than 41,000 women are currently on the national transplant waiting list, and 86% of them are waiting for a kidney. While 37 million Americans are affected by kidney disease, women tend to face more specific challenges linked to kidney disease.
