Happy National APEX Day! 🎉

Today we're celebrating APEX Accelerators and the free support they provide to businesses looking to compete in the government marketplace.

A big shoutout to our Procurement Outreach Specialist, Barb Brennen, who helps our local businesses navigate government contracting. Over the past year, North Central APEX served 87 clients and helped them secure more than $15 million in federal contracting awards.

We're proud to be part of the APEX network and support businesses across North Central Pennsylvania!

Do you have a planning study idea for your community?

North Central is accepting ideas for transportation and planning studies that could help address needs in our region. We're especially interested in ideas that address needs across multiple municipalities, counties, and/or transportation modes.

For example, a community might identify a need for a corridor study to look at things like traffic, safety, access, and future development along a certain roadway.

Earlier this week, North Central PREP partners got together at the Elk County 911 Center to share updates and talk about what's happening across the region.

A big thanks to Abbi Peters of The PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship for sharing more about Placemaker CoLab, a new effort supporting rural communities and local businesses.

Funding is available for community EV charging!

PennDOT is accepting applications for its Community Charging Program, which provides funding to help organizations install publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations across Pennsylvania.

Eligible applicants can include businesses, nonprofits, municipalities, and other organizations. Projects require a 20% match. Central Region applications are due March 12, 2027.

Leveraging already existing data, this new data tool helps communities understand property conditions at a high level—and see how the community compares to other parts of our region.

This index:
🏚️ Combines multiple unique values to paint an overall picture of property conditions;
🏚️ Was developed using rigorous established methods;
🏚️ Provides comparable data throughout our region; and
🏚️ Supports research, intervention, and funding efforts.
