School is back in session on Wednesday, and that means school buses will be back on our roads.

Every day, children are getting on and off buses, and it's up to all of us to help keep them safe. Remember to slow down, stay alert, and always watch for children crossing the street.

Georgia law requires drivers to stop for a school bus when its stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing. On a two-lane road, traffic in both directions must stop. On a divided highway with a raised median or physical barrier, only vehicles traveling behind the bus are required to stop.

A few extra seconds of patience can save a life.

Let's work together to make this a safe school year for every student, bus driver, and family in our community.

Drive carefully. Stop for the bus. Protect our kids.
