RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

After 4 years (that's 32 cat years) of dedicated service to the men and women of the Rindge Police Department, Bandit announces his retirement! He stepped away from his role in August and has already settled in nicely with his new cat, dog, and human siblings at his new home with Chief Malynowski and her family.

Newly nicknamed "Tank" at his new home due to his enormous size, Bandit outgrew the confines of our small building. While here, he kept us on our toes...quite literally, since he loved being underfoot and we were always tripping over him. In addition to growing in size, he was also growing quite needy. When he wasn't given enough attention, he made sure to let us know in increasingly creative ways. He particularly liked to sit only in the middle of the pile of paperwork we were currently working on or paw case files onto the floor. He learned to paw at the cold-water tap of our water cooler so he could drink fresh water....or let it run all over the floor. As the days grew busier, Bandit grew bored and tried to find new ways to keep himself busy while we were out on calls. You literally never knew what you were going to walk back into when you returned. And my personal favorite...his games of hide and seek. This is when I would run around in a panic, thinking he had gotten outside, ultimately finding him asleep in a quiet corner or curl up in the bottom of someone's locker. He was mildly interested in moths, ignored spiders, watched crickets, and befriended mice. Clearly, he wasn't cut out for our line of work.

Please join us in wishing Bandit a long and happy retirement as he lives out hopefully his 9 lives being the 'best boy'!

Within the past week, the Rindge Police Department has received several calls from residents requesting that we contact an ambulance for them. While we understand that there may be some confusion surrounding the recent ambulance service announcement, the procedure for requesting these services remains unchanged.

We would like to remind you that if you are having a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately! While the police department remains committed to providing quality service and is likely to show up along with the ambulance and rescue crew, we are not the most appropriate contact for these situations. Please don't minimize your medical concern or waste valuable time. You will not get in trouble for calling 911 to ask for help!

You may also call Southwest New Hampshire Mutual Aid at (603) 352-1100 for immediate or other non-emergent Fire/Rescue Dispatch services.
