Seeking Information

Sometime this past weekend, the informational signs at the Eel River Trail kiosk off Edwards Drive were vandalized….again.

These signs were put in place for the benefit of our community and those using the trail. Unfortunately, someone decided to damage them, leaving the City with the cost and work of making the necessary repairs.

We are asking anyone who may have seen something, knows who was responsible, or has video from the area to please contact the Rio Dell Police Department at 707-764-5642.

Even a small piece of information may be helpful. If you know who is doing this and don’t want to say who, at least help your community by encouraging them to stop tearing down and damaging things that are here for everyone to enjoy.

Please help us take care of the things that are here for everyone to use and enjoy.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT – GOVERNMENT IMPERSONATION FRAUD ⚠️

The Rio Dell Police Department wants to caution our community about an increase in scams involving individuals claiming to represent law enforcement or government agencies.

Scammers may claim to be with the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, immigration authorities, local law enforcement, or another government agency. They may tell victims that:

• Their bank accounts have been flagged or frozen
• Their name has been associated with a terrorist watchlist or criminal investigation
• There is a warrant for their arrest
• There is a problem with their immigration status
• They must immediately pay a fine, fee, bond, or other large amount of money to avoid arrest or other consequences

These scams are designed to create fear and urgency so the victim pays before having time to verify the story.

If someone claiming to represent a government or law enforcement agency demands a large payment, stop and verify before sending any money.

Be especially cautious of anyone demanding payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, cash, or other difficult-to-recover methods.

Our focus when someone comes to us with a concern like this is simple: protecting members of our community from fraud and helping victims of crime.

If you receive one of these calls, messages, or demands, please contact the Rio Dell Police Department before making any payment. We would much rather spend a few minutes helping you determine whether something is legitimate than see you lose your hard-earned money.

When in doubt, call us first. We are here to help.

🚒🎡 Wildwood Days is Here! 🎡🚒

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, look no further! Wildwood Days is underway today through Sunday, and it's one of the best opportunities all year to get out, have some fun, and support the Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department.

Whether you're coming for the food, the events, the parade, the games, or just to spend time with friends and neighbors, there's something for everyone. Our volunteer firefighters put in an incredible amount of work—not just responding when emergencies happen, but also organizing events like this that bring our community together.

Now, I may have made a questionable decision...

💦 Tomorrow (Friday) from 6:00-6:30pm, I'll be in the Dunk Tank at Shotz Coffee! 💦

For thirty minutes, you'll have the opportunity to see if your fastball is as good as you think it is. If you've ever wanted to dunk your Chief, now's your chance—and I can't think of a better reason than supporting our Volunteer Fire Department.

Bring the family, enjoy everything Wildwood Days has to offer, and stop by to say hello...or take your best shot. I have a feeling some of you have been waiting for this opportunity. 😄

I hope to see everyone out this weekend. Thank you for supporting the men and women of the Rio Dell Volunteer Fire Department and for continuing to make Rio Dell such a great place to call home.

See you at Wildwood Days! 🚒💙

🐾 Help Us Build a Better Future for Rio Dell's Animals! 🐾

The City of Rio Dell is taking an important step toward ensuring our community continues to receive reliable, compassionate animal care by constructing a new Police Department Animal Kennel Facility.

With local animal care resources becoming increasingly strained, this project will allow us to safely and humanely care for lost, stray, abandoned, and seized animals while they await reunification with their owners or placement through rescue or adoption. Most importantly, it will help ensure these essential services remain available to the Rio Dell community for years to come while keeping costs affordable for our taxpayers.

The City has committed to funding approximately 70% of the project, totaling $125,000 and we're asking our amazing community to help us raise the remaining 30%. Whether you're a resident, local business, service club, or community organization, every donation—large or small—brings us one step closer to making this project a reality.

❤️ How You Can Help

📍 In Person:
Donations can be made at Rio Dell City Hall by cash, check, or credit/debit card.

📞 By Phone:
Call (707) 764-3532 and simply let City Hall staff know your payment is for the Animal Kennel Project.

💻 Online:
Visit www.cityofriodell.ca.gov, select "Online Payments" on the home page, choose "Donation" from the payment type menu, and enter "Animal Kennel Project" in the comments field.

🧾 Donation receipts are available upon request.

This project is about more than building kennels—it's about protecting animals, supporting public safety, and investing in the future of our community. Thank you for helping us make a lasting difference for Rio Dell.

Together, we can build something our entire community can be proud of. 🐶🐱🐾
