Last week, our interns spent most of their fall break working alongside our crews and gaining hands-on experience in the fire service. They had the opportunity to practice securing advanced airways and donning structural firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE).

We appreciate their commitment to learning and our crews’ dedication to teaching the next generation! 🚒

Small trucks. Big decisions. 🚒

Our Blue Card Incident Commanders put their skills to work during mega occupancy continuing education training using existing preplan information and die-cast apparatus to bring the scenario to life.

Participants rotated through the roles of first-arriving company officer (IC1) and first-arriving chief officer (IC2), practicing initial radio report, resource deployment, clear assignments, and transfer of command.

Training with the buildings we protect strengthens coordination and prepares our crews for the challenges of large, complex incidents.

Last week, 17 of our Rio Rico Medical & Fire District personnel joined family and friends for a group of 57 at the First Responder Day! 🏈🇺🇸

Through the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association, our group had the opportunity to celebrate first responders, with participants invited onto the field to help hold the flags during the pregame ceremony. It was a memorable experience shared with the people who support us every day.

Thank you to the Arizona Cardinals and the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association for recognizing first responders and making this experience possible!

🚒 Building the next generation of fire service leaders!

This week, our RRMFD Fire Officer Academy covered Chapter 3: Crew Resource Management and Chapter 4: Leading a Team—strengthening communication, coordination, and leadership skills that help crews succeed.

✅ All students passed their chapter test.
✅ The first batch of Job Performance Requirement (JPR) skill sheets was submitted.

Each week brings another opportunity to turn knowledge into action. Keep up the hard work! 👏

Blue Card Mega Occupancy CE knocked out by C Shift! 🔥

The IC1 operated from a separate room while the other units used an area map and die-cast apparatus to simulate unit placement, assigned tasks, and objectives. IC2 then arrived and completed a transfer of command, adding another key component to the evolution.

This visual approach brought radio communications to life, allowing crews to demonstrate how they understood and carried out assignments. Great practice for both command and crews—reinforcing clear communication, a shared understanding of the plan, and continuity during command transfer.
