We received a very nice journal from the granddaughter of Clyde and Winifred (Jones) Burgess. Winifred was born in Rising City in 1915. The family was quite well known. The journal was written by Lynda (Burgess) Keeling's great aunt Clarice Jones, the oldest sister, with so much history! Mentions many people in Rising City.
Lynda lives in Rogers, AR, and contacted the Rising City Community Library with this info and sent us the booklet. Stop in and look at the journal.

A huge thank you to the United Women in Faith (Rising City United Methodist Women) for their $150 monetary donation to our Rising City Community Library. This generous gift will be split between books and food pantry items needed. Thanks again!

We are always amazed at the generosity of the congregation of the First Lutheran Church Rising City Nebraska. Just at the right time they delivered bags and bags of food pantry items. Our shelves were getting bare, so this is fantastic. Give us a few days to get these items on the shelves. Thank you! We can always take monetary donations, too, so we can buy meat items.

We have some new books to check out! Stop in and peruse the new books! Plus, we have two new puzzles.

Our community-based library prides itself on being 100% volunteer staffed. We strive to bring programs to our area for children, young adults and the adult population. However, it takes volunteers to do this. We greatly appreciate our board of directors and our volunteer staff pool, but we could use a few more people to volunteer. All of us are busy with families, schedules and commitments, but we strongly support our library, too. If you have a few hours to provide just let us know....Contact the RCCL at 402-954-0270 to make an appointment to learn more.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream at the library on Thursday, Oct. 8th from 4-7 pm! Last time to catch them before it gets cold. We appreciate them coming to RC.

The Rising City Community Library will have a slightly different schedule this Thursday, Oct. 8th. We'll be open 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Don't forget the "What's the Scoop!" Ice Cream Truck will be here that day, too, from 4 pm to 7 pm.

We are so fortunate to have visitors at the library that appreciate all of the history of Rising City and the RCPS Alumni photos.
We had Charles Babb and his wife, Fredia Flowers, of Seattle, WA, stop this morning.
His grandparents, Charles and Minnie (Smith) Babb, settled in RC in the late 1890's and his dad and siblings graduated from RCPS.
Veva Babb-1917
Claudie Babb-1922
Merle Babb-1925
Loren Babb-1926
Marion Babb-1929
Dean Babb-1931
Doyle Babb-1935 (Charles' father)
We had a great visit and tour of the library. They planned to visit Circle Mound Cemetery, too.
